A suspended mycelium block featuring bioluminescent Omphalotus nidiformis mushrooms serves as the luminous heart of the space. Electrodes capture the bioelectrical signals emitted by these glowing fungi, channeling them through an Arduino that transforms the energy into pulses of LED light. This light travels along a glass fiber, bringing together the materiality of the World Wide Web with fungi, the main actors of the Wood Wide Web. Encircling the central organism, four cellphones display videos that reimagine the exhibition space’s architecture as if it were breathing—each frame moving in sync with the subtle cadence of the filmer’s breath. The auditory landscape features a canon titled Collecting Mushrooms. The canon was also performed at FabrikCulture.
